Harvesting at Nostie Bridge

A perfect day harvesting the wheat crop is captured in this photograph taken at Nostie, a small township between Ardelve and Auchtertyre on Loch Alsh. The farm machinery, though outdated by to-day's standard, would have made the task so much easier than in years previously when harvesting crops was done by scythe. This photograph shows a good example of using what small areas of arable land could be found, with the area beyond the fence being barren, hilly and extremely difficult to plough for crop planting.
