This photograph shows construction in progress of a new bridge at Glen Shiel. The old, stone arch bridge is being replaced by a more modern, two lane structure. Spanning the River Shiel, the new bridge is situated to make a straight approach from both directions, eliminating what was probably a quite dangerous, narrow access to the older bridge. The road leads through Glen Shiel with wonderful mountains rising above the road on both sides, to Shiel Bridge and westward.
