Plockton

Plockton was originally a crofting township called Am Ploc. During the clearances a local landowner, the Earl of Seaforth, built it into a fishing town and renamed it Plocktown.

The village lies on the southern shore of Loch Carron and enjoys a very mild climate as the Gulf Stream flows up the west coast of Scotland. The climate is such that palm trees are able to grow naturally on the main street. The village was made famous as the setting for the BBC Drama 'Hamish Macbeth' in the 1990s.
