This photograph, taken by Tom Baker, shows the lighthouse located in the north-west tip of the Tarbet Ness peninsula, near the village of Portmahomack on the east coast of the Highlands. Built by the renowned Scottish engineer Robert Stevenson in 1830 the lighthouse measures 53 metres high, with 37 steps to the top. James Smith of Inverness was the contracter responsible for the lighthouse's construction. It is the third tallest in Scotland, only eclipsed by those at North Ronaldsay and Skerryvore.
