The Italy Star

The Italy Star was awarded for service in Italy, Sicily, Greece, Yugoslavia, Corsica or Sardinia between 11 June 1943 and 8 May 1945. It was one of eight campaign star medals issued at the end of World War 2. The medal is a six-pointed star with the Royal Cipher GRI VI in the centre surrounded by the inscription 'The Italy Star' and surmounted by a crown. Its accompanying ribbon is five vertical stripes of equal width - red, white, green, white and red - representing the Italian national colours.

This Italy Star was provided by Neil McKechnie for a War Detectives project in 2005
