The 1939-1945 Star

The 1939-1945 Star was awarded for operational service between 3 September 1939 and 15 August 1945. It was one of eight campaign star medals issued at the end of World War 2. The medal is a six-pointed star with the Royal Cipher GRI VI in the centre surrounded by the inscription 'The 1939-1945 Star' and surmounted by a crown. Its accompanying ribbon is dark blue, red and light blue in three equal vertical stripes.
