This is a photograph of Iain Munro whose widow and daughter were interviewed by pupils of Portree Primary School as part of a War Detective project in 2005.

Iain belonged to Portree and during World War 2 joined the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders. He was taken prisoner in Northern France and sent to Germany where he spent almost five years in a prisoner-of-war camp. His younger brother John Allan was killed at St Valery
