Three children with their mother

This photograph shows three children with their mother Annie Gordon. The family lived at Ord Cottage, Muir of Ord. The child on the left is John, in the middle is Adam and their sister is Catherine. The two brothers fought in World War II, John as a signalman and Adam as a flight officer in the Royal Air Force.

John was captured by Japanese soldiers while serving in Malaysia. He spent three years as a prisoner of war before being repatriated in 1945. He later became proprietor of the music shop 'The Record Rendezvous', at Church Street, Inverness. John's sister Catherine ran a hairdressing business at Union Street, Inverness, during the 1960s
