George Corbett

This photograph shows George Corbett, a crofter from Kinlochbervie, and was taken in the 1930s.

Kinlochbervie, located on the west coast of Sutherland, has grown into one of Scotland's major fishing ports. Many boats based on the east coast of Scotland will land their catches at Kinlochbervie where they are loaded onto refrigerated lorries and shipped across Europe. The oldest public building in Kinlochbervie is also one of Thomas Telford's 'Parliamentary' churches which was built in 1829.
