Leaving Scourie Secondary School

Pictured on the right is Jessie Corbett at Scourie Secondary School in 1928, the year she left school.

The village of Scourie lies on the west coast of Sutherland at the head of Scourie Bay. The gardens of Scourie house are home to some palm trees which are able to thrive because of the warming effects of the Gulf Stream. The village is also known as the birth place of Hugh Mackay, a 17th century British General who served during the Glorious Revolution, commanding the Government troops at the Battle of Killiecrankie.
