Postcard of salmon leaping the Falls of Shin

The River Shin flows from Loch Shin, through Achany Glen and out into the Kyle of Sutherland north of Bonar Bridge. The river is a great breeding ground for Atlantic Salmon. The Falls of Shin are found around two miles north of the mouth of the river and every year large numbers of salmon leap up the Falls on the way to their breeding grounds further upstream.
