Curlers at Auchalochy Lochan

Curlers at Auchalochy Lochan, just north of Campbeltown. When the lochan was frozen, the Campbeltown residents took advantage of the opportunity to go curling or skating. During the summer months, other recreational pursuits such as camping, fishing and playing cricket were popular

There is evidence to suggest that curling has been played in Scotland since the 16th century. Curling has flourished in recent years, with the first World Championships taking place in 1958 and the sport being recognised as an Olympic Sport in 1998
