Scottish Ladies Golf Championships, Machrihanish

The Scottish Ladies Golf Championships, at Machrihanish Golf Club in 1909. Fifty four ladies took part in the competition.

Machrihanish developed as a tourist spot even before the Campbeltown and Machrihanish Light Railway was constructed, in 1905. The golf club, established in 1876, initially had ten holes set into its dunes, but this was later extended to 14. In 1888, the club's name was changed from Kintyre Golf Club to Machrihanish Golf Club, due to the general consensus that its original name was not inspiring enough for such a beautiful course
