Two girls outside a house in Kintyre

Two girls standing outside a house in Kintyre. The girl on the right is holding a 'gird and cleek', a popular toy with children during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The gird was an iron hoop, about three feet in diameter, and the cleek was an instrument used to guide the hoop along the ground. The toy was usually made by the local Blacksmith
