Hilton of Cadboll is one of the small fishing villages of the Easter Ross seaboard. It overlooks the Moray Firth about 6 miles north east of Cromarty.

The village is noted for its carved Pictish stone. This impressive Class II cross slab is now on display in the Museum of Scotland. In 2000 a project was started to carve a reproduction of the stone close to the site where the original was found.

These illustrations were taken from 'Down to the Sea' by Jessie MacDonald and Anne Gordon
