Loch Eil from Upper Achintore

Loch Eil lies to the west of Fort William. It is a sea loch as it is open to the sea via Loch Linnhe. In fact, on some early maps, Loch Eil covers the whole of 'upper Loch Linnhe' right down as far as the Corran Ferry. The photograph is from 'Loyal Lochaber. Historical Genealogical and Traditionary' by W Drummond Norie, Glasgow, 1898
