Sir John McLeod, KCB

Sir John MacLeod commanded the advance guard of the 42nd Highlanders, the Black Watch, during the Ashantee Campaign, 1873-1875. He was highly praised by Major General Sir Garnet Wolseley for his services during the campaign and was awarded a KCB, Knight Commander of the Bath. Sir John MacLeod retired from the army in 1877.
