Fingal's Tomb

Fingal's Cave is found on the island of Staffa, which is now owned by the National Trust for Scotland. The island is famed for its basalt columns which have created many unique coastal features, including the cave. The Cave has been a source of inspiration to many artists and composers, including Felix Mendelssohn, who composed the 'Hebrides Overture'.

This illustration has been taken from 'Journal of a Tour and Residence in Great Britain, during the years 1810 and 1811, by a French Traveller', by Louis Simond
