This map of the Western Isles of Scotland was drawn by Martin Martin for his book 'A Description of the Western Islands of Scotland'. The scale of the map appears twice, once in English miles and once in Scots miles, which were slightly longer.

Martin's book was originally published in 1703 and is one of the earliest accounts of the islands. He was a Gaelic speaker from Skye and was educated at the Universities of Edinburgh and Leiden
