This illustration of Rosemarkie Bay is taken from Angus J Beaton's 'Illustrated Guide to Fortrose and Vicinity, with an appendix on the Antiquities of the Black Isle', published in Inverness in 1885.

The church in the centre is Rosemarkie Parish Church. There has been a Christian centre on this site for many centuries and the current building dates from 1821. There have been various Pictish carved stones found in and around the church, the most famous being a symbol-bearing cross-slab which is now on display at Groam House museum
