This illustration was taken from "Argyll's Highlands" by Cuthbert Bede. It shows a photograph of Dalaruan in Campbeltown. The area, originally referred to as 'Dalruaidh', takes its name from the name of its people, 'Dalruaidhini'.

Campbeltown is the largest town in the peninsula of Kintyre and the third largest in the whole of Argyll. Named after the Campbells of Argyll, it was previously known as Kinlochkerran. Dependent on the sea for its living, the town is still a major fishing port and boatbuilding centre
