Incised crosses

These two incised crosses were found on graves on Innis Maree in Loch Maree. The illustration is part of an article by an Arthur Mitchell. Mr Mitchell visited Innis Maree in the 1860s and noted that there were a large number of graves of English artisans who had been working in the iron furnaces at Poolewe. He noted that most of the graves had no inscriptions or carvings. The two exceptions were these crosses on two of the graves.

This illustration can be found in vol. IV of the 'Proceedings of the Society of Antiquaries in Scotland', 1860-1862
