Sandstone Button Mould

This sandstone button mould was found in Evie, Orkney by the Rev. William Beattie. The moulds are cut into both sides of the stone and were most likely used for casting pewter buttons. The buttons cast by this stone were ½ - 1 inch (1-3cm) in diameter.
