Whetstone

A whetstone is a flat stone for sharpening edged tools or knives. This whetstone was found on the Isle of Eigg, along with splinters of flint, an arrow and beads of amber and jet. It was worn with use and had a hole at one end, possibly so that it could be hung from a belt or hook.

This illustration was taken from 'Proceedings of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland. Vol XII, Part I' (1876-77)
