This view of Inverness was first published in "A Plan of the River Ness with the banks and lands adjacent from the Holm Burn in the east and Clach-na-hagaig stone in the west to the junction of the sea with low and high water mark from the Millburn to the march at the west, with the lands of Muirton. It was made out from an accurate survey in September 1774 by John Home."

It was reproduced in 1862 in Volume 2 of the 'Transactions of the Inverness Scientific Society and Field Club'. This copy is a reprint taken from 'Old Inverness' by Pierre Delavault (1903).
