Old Cannich Shepherd, Strathglass

An elderly man feeds ewes and lambs outside a cottage in Glen Cannich.

Glen Cannich is one of three west-running glens in Strathglass. The other two are Glen Strathfarrar and Glen Affric. Through Glen Cannich runs Cannich river leading to Loch Mullardoch and the largest Hydro-Electric dam in Scotland. The Loch Mullardoch dam was part of the Mullardoch-Fasnakyle-Affric Project which became operative in February 1947. The area is also famous for walking, with Loch Mullardoch alone being surrounded by ten Munros (Scottish mountains over 3000ft or 914m).
