Foyers Hotel, Loch Ness

This postcard shows the Foyers Hotel, Loch Ness

Foyers is a village situated on the quiet east side of Loch Ness where the River Foyers drops down the Falls of Foyers towards the Loch. Between 1895 and 1967 aluminium was produced at a plant on the shore of the Loch by the North British Aluminium Company, using the river to generate power, and a thriving community developed. Since 1973 the plant has served as hydro-electric power station feeding the national grid.
