The white building in the middle is the Broadford Hotel. Broadford stands at the head of Broadford Bay. It is on the main road through Skye to Portree. The village was expanded after the Napoleonic Wars for the settlement of war veterans. The pier was built in the mid-19th century for steamers as well as local fishing boats
