The Half Way House Tea Room, near Invermoriston

This postcard shows the Half Way House Tea Room, situated by the banks of Loch Ness, near Invermoriston. The tea room closed down and the building was reopened in 1943, as the Altsaigh (Alltsigh) Youth Hostel. The hostel is still in business today.

Interestingly, in 1934, for one year only, the Scottish Youth Hostel Association opened a youth hostel in premises (former Forestry Commission cottages) across the road from the present building in Alltsigh.
