Carrbridge

This postcard shows a view of Carrbridge. Carrbridge developed at the beginning of the 19th century along with tree planting on the Strathspey estate. It grew with the opening of the Aviemore to Inverness section of the railway in 1898 and with the coming of tourism in the early 20th century. It boomed in the 1950s and 60s when Karl Fuchs opened the first professional ski school and winter sports became established in the Cairngorms
