Isle of Skye Ferries

This postcard shows the Isle of Skye ferries leaving Kyle of Lochalsh and Kyleakin.

Kyleakin has been the main crossing point to Skye from the mainland since at least the 17th century. Until the mid-1930s, only one car at a time could be transported across the strait. Today the ferry is no longer in public use due to the building of the Skye Bridge, which links the island to the mainland
