Cattlefield near Bettyhill

This postcard shows the community of Cattlefield near Bettyhill in Sutherland. Bettyhill is a fairly recent settlement, Farr being the original village within the area.

During the 1700s Farr had a reasonably sized population; the parish church could hold 750 people. However, the Highland Clearances and emigration led to a decrease in the area's population. Farr today is a crofting settlement situated a mile east of Bettyhill
