Gare Loch is a sea loch situated 21 km northwest of Glasgow. It flows south into the Firth of Clyde and was a major naval base during World War II. Today, the HM Naval Base Clyde, at Faslane, is home to the United Kingdom's strategic nuclear deterrent and the headquarters of the Royal Navy in Scotland
