The Road to the Isles through Glen Shiel

This postcard shows the traditional Road to the Isles through Glen Shiel. A diversion was constructed on the route, between Loch Garry and the Cluanie Inn, when the level of Loch Cluanie was altered to incorporate a hydro-electric scheme.

The Glen is extremely popular with tourists and is home to several high mountain peaks. In north Glen Shiel the peaks known as The Five Sisters can be found while to the south sit mountains rising over 3000ft including Creag nan Damh, Sgurr an Lochain, Sgurr na Sgine and The Saddle
