This postcard shows Loch Shiel and the mountains Sgur Uran and Sgur Carroch at Glen Shiel in Ross-shire. Sgur Uran and Sgur Carroch form part of the Five Sisters of Kintail mountain range. On the 10th June 1719, The Battle of Glen Shiel took place in this glen between an alliance of Jacobite Highlanders and Spaniards against British Government troops. The battle resulted in a victory for the British army.
