Salmon leaping the Falls of Rogie, Strathpeffer

This postcard shows the Falls of Rogie on the River Blackwater near Contin, five miles west of the village of Strathpeffer. A salmon can be seen trying to leap up the falls.

A trip to Rogie Falls was a popular excursion for visitors who came to Strathpeffer to 'take the waters' when it was a fashionable Victorian spa resort. Although the falls are not especially high or spectacular, they remain a favourite picnic spot today.
