Duntulm Castle, Isle of Skye, An Ancient Stronghold of the MacDonalds of the Isles

As noted on the front of this postcard, Duntulm Castle, was indeed an ancient stronghold of the MacDonalds, but not without battles with the MacLeods. The castle, situated on a high, rocky promontory offered views of any approching vessels, the land around green and fertile, it is no wonder the area was fought over. The Castle, once magnificent in its grandeur, fell to ruin with much of the stone being used later for other construction
