The Sinister Cuillins from Elgol, Isle of Skye

The Cuillin mountains do indeed look rather forbidding in this view from the remote village of Elgol on Skye's indented western coast, but it is the dramatic landscape which has attracted visitors since the Highlands became romanticised by artists and writers. J.M.W.Turner and Sir Walter Scott both came here and were suitably impressed by famous Loch Coruisk, accessible only on foot or by boat from Elgol
