Flora MacDonald's Cottage, Skye

A celebrity of the 18th century, Flora MacDonald was a well known figure when she inhabited this cottage, or more likely a cottage on the site of the present day building. She was, of course, known for her assistance in Bonnie Prince Charlie's escape from Uist to Skye. For her part, she was held in protective custody, then on release returned to Skye, married Allan MacDonald of Kingsburgh and lived at Flodigarry where 5 of their 7 children were born. Now smart accommodation annexed to Flodigarry Hotel, visitors are always intrigued to visit the site
