The Coolins, Black and Red from Clach Glas, Skye

What a magnificent view, and a reward worth the effort of the climb. This scene shows the contrast between the rounded, weathered, smoother, granite Red hills to the right, and the hard, jagged, dark gabbro of the Black hills to the left. Glen Sligachan, with the river of the same name running its length, provides a natural boundary between the hills. In the central foreground is Ruadh Stac, with the long ridge to Marsco's summit behind. In the distance, and part of the main Cuillin ridge is the distinctive cone of Sgurr nan Gillean
