The Cuchullins from Loch Vatten, Skye

The mass of the Black Cuillin to the south forms a spectacular backdrop to part of Skye's indented west coast. Loch Vatten, from the Norse or Icelandic for water, lake or loch, lies in the foreground with Loch Bracadale behind. This most attractive coastline is dotted with small islands, the main ones being Wiay, Harlosh, Tarner and Oronsay. The various sea lochs and bays, divided by peninsulas and headlands, are yet more evidence of the glacial action which created this spectacular environment
