Loch Scavaig and the Coolin Hills, Isle of Skye

This is a rare view of Loch Scavaig with barely a ripple disturbing the surface of the sea. The magnificent Cuillin form the backdrop, with Loch Coruisk in their midst completely hidden. Visitors have been drawn to this remote location since the early 19th century, some trekking the several miles from Sligachan, but most taking advantage of a boat trip from Elgol across Loch Scavaig. The sea loch is renowned for unpredictable weather and sudden squalls, no doubt due to the surrounding topography, but even in the worst of weather, the landscape leaves a lasting impression
