On the West Coast of Scotland

The rather vague title of this postcard gives no indication that the view is of the pinnacle known as the Needle, part of the fantastical rock formations of the Quirang in north east Skye. The landscape of the Quiraing is in sharp contrast to the sweeping lines of Staffin Bay in the background. The Needle, Prison and Table, are all named features of the basalt rocks created over centuries by a combination of volcanic activity, landslip and weathering.
