Sgurr-nan-Gillean and Cuchullin, Skye

This dark, sepia photograph presents a very bleak, cold and forbiding view of the Cuillin; a place where one would never want to go. But most people, the climbers, walkers and tourists take a different view, and embrace the splendid isolation and starkness as beauty. The photo certainly shows the dramatic structure of the hills, with sharp, jagged, steep walls of rock plunging down to isolated lochs and corries. The background shows Sgurr nan Gillean to the right with the main Cuillin ridge covered in a light snow
