According to the sender of the postcard "Skye is really like this". Produced from an original watercolour by Edward H. Thompson who worked mainly in the Lake District, it was probably painted from a Valentine's photograph. Thompson worked for the Dundee based publishers from the 1930s. Although a degree of artistic licence is evident in the picture, the grandeur of the Cuillin Mountains does not require exaggeration
