Glen Sligachan and Marscow, Skye

This tinted postcard shows the impressive bulk of Marsco, one of the Red Hills on the Isle of Skye. The soft, pastel colouring probably portrays a more gentle landscape that what is actually there, with howling wind and lashing rain a more common sight. But the climb through boggy and grassy areas, and finally scree higher up, is well worth the effort with wonderful views from the summit. Marsco is an easily accessible hill, just off the main road at Sligachan, one of the main mountaineering centres of Skye
