This image gives the impression of a barren landscape, stark and inhospitable, and indeed on a gloomy, grey day the Cuillin on Skye can be less than appealing. However the weather has to be really severe to put off the serious climbers and walkers who attempt the Munros and the other peaks in the Cuillin range. Their reward is the satisfaction of a successful ascent, with the bonus of spectacular scenery when the clouds lift
