Uig Village from the Hairpin Bend, Isle of Skye

This sepia postcard shows the township of Uig in Skye. The sectioned croft lands rise above the horseshoe bay, and the single track road, with the hairpin bend, leads north to Kilmuir. At one time Uig was a flourishing fishing port, with a substantial pier, built in 1894 and improved and extended several times since. Caledonian MacBrayne started the ferry route to North Uist and Harris in 1964.
