The Heathmount Hotel was situated in Kyleakin, close to the church and overlooking the wide grassy area between the road and the sea which was a feature of the village. In the 1930s it was run as a Boarding House by a Miss Macpherson, and boasted electric light. By the 1950s it had become a Hotel in the ownership of M. Macrae, along with the Marine Hotel which was located close by. Many hotels provided garaging for the increasing number of, often quite valuable, cars which brought visitors to their establishment. The unidentified man in the photograph is probably standing beside the Heathmount garage
