Carron River and Bridge, Strathcarron

This photograph, taken in the early twentieth century, shows the bridge in Srathcarron which crosses the Carron River. Before the bridge was built, the River Carron had a history of being difficult to ford when in flood, and was hazardous to cross on horseback or with animals when the tide was out due to the formation of quicksands.
